Happy Independence Day America!!

Hope you all managed to find a very special and personal way to celebrate this year's Anniversary of the Nation's Declaration of Independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain, way back on 4 July 1776.

My wife and I were in Hawaii on the occasion of the American Bi-Centenary in 1976 and we always remember fondly the fantastic celebrations that marked that occasion. We were particularly impressed by the warmth and friendship we received in Hawaii, and by the immense sense of national pride that was so evident. We felt truely honoured to share such a special moment in history.

Displays of fireworks, such as these over the Washington Monument, take place nationwide.

Also called The Fourth of July
The Glorious Fourth
The Fourth

Significance The day the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress
Date July 4
Celebrations Fireworks, Family reunions, Concerts, Barbecues, Picnics, Parades, Baseball games
